Mark and Margaret
The owners behind every kitchen and bathroom we build.
Our Story
We started The Cabinet Shop because we were tired of watching homeowners get bounced between contractors. You would hire a designer, then a general contractor, then subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, tile, and somehow nothing was coordinated. Budgets ballooned. Timelines slipped. And at the end, no one took accountability for the whole thing.
We decided to do it differently. We built a company where our team handles everything in-house. We design it. We build it. We install it. You deal with us from day one to final walkthrough.
That has been our approach for over 25 years across 250+ kitchens and bathrooms in the Capital Region. And it is not changing.

Mark
Vision & Planning
Before Mark agrees to a project, he walks every inch of your kitchen. He measures things contractors usually do not. He asks about the window that gets morning light. Thirty years in, he still shows up to every consultation himself, because that is when a project gets made or lost.
Mark designs around how you actually live, not a template. If you cook every night, the workflow matters more than the island size. If you host, the sight lines to the living room matter. Mark gets that because he has been doing this for over two decades.
He will open every cabinet, run the water, check the sight lines from the dining room. Then he designs a kitchen that works the way you need it to, not the way a template says it should.

Margaret
Design & Personal Shopping
Margaret’s clients do not pick from a binder. She goes to the tile house, the hardware showroom, the stone yard, for every project. She has assembled 250 kitchens worth of taste, and she applies all of it to yours.
The detail that makes your space feel like your space? That is Margaret. She manages every project from first call to final walkthrough. She is the one who makes sure materials arrive on time, the schedule stays on track, and you always know what is happening next.
When you call with a question, she picks up.
How we work
Craftsmanship
The work speaks. Dovetail joints on every drawer. Soft-close on every cabinet. Perfectly grouted tile. Attention to detail that you notice every single day.
Accountability
Same crew from demo day to final walkthrough. You know who is building your space. We know who is responsible. No finger-pointing between contractors.
Communication
We tell you what it takes. Not what you want to hear. Budget. Timeline. Trade-offs. You are informed every step of the way.
