Voorheesville

Voorheesville is a small village west of Albany, sitting at the edge of the Helderberg Escarpment where the land shifts from the Hudson Valley floor to the uplands. The village has a quiet residential character — single-family homes on modest lots, a mix of older construction in the village center and newer development on the surrounding roads. What Voorheesville lacks in volume it makes up for in the quality of its homeowners: people who chose the village deliberately, who care about their homes, and who approach renovation with patience and thought. We have done a number of projects here where the homeowner had been planning for a year or more before calling us, which means the design conversation is further along and the work often goes smoother. The village character also rewards restraint in renovation — materials and finishes that fit the scale of the house rather than overwhelming it.
