Watervliet

Watervliet is the smallest city in New York State by area, and its housing stock is correspondingly dense. The city runs to two-family and three-family homes on tight lots, most of them built in the early 20th century when the Arsenal and related industries drew workers to the area. Kitchens here are compact by necessity — often galley arrangements against a shared wall, with minimal counter space and storage that was designed for a different era of cooking. Our work in Watervliet is frequently focused on storage solutions and layout optimization within an unchanged footprint: adding upper cabinets where there were none, replacing open shelving with enclosed cabinetry, reorganizing the work triangle. Bathroom renovations in Watervliet are similarly constrained, but the results can be dramatic — a well-tiled bathroom in a compact space feels far more generous than its square footage suggests.
