Mechanicville

Mechanicville is a small city with a dense housing stock — two-family homes, row houses, and single-family properties packed onto narrow lots along streets that slope toward the Hudson. The city's industrial past shaped its residential character: workers' housing from the late 1800s and early 1900s, modest in scale but often well-built and full of detail. Kitchens in these homes are small by modern standards, and the challenge is often layout more than finish. We have opened walls to borrow space from adjacent rooms, built out pantry cabinetry to create storage where none existed, and replaced cramped galley kitchens with more functional arrangements while staying within the existing footprint. Bathrooms here are similarly compact, and we have become practiced at fitting full tile showers into tight spaces.
